Alicia Elizabeth Robinson, the Cape Elizabeth woman killed in an accident last Friday in Scarborough, was recalled by her mother and friends as free-spirited, lively and caring.
“She lived life to the fullest,” said her mother, Donna Robinson. “She will be sadly missed by a lot of people.”
Robinson, 21, was killed when her westbound 2002 Toyota Camry veered off Gorham Road near the intersection with Spring Street and struck a tree, according to Scarborough Police Officer Scott Vaughan.
She was driving alone and there were no witnesses to the accident. A driver passing the scene called police at about 11:15 p.m. Robinson was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland where she died, Vaughan said.
The accident remains under investigation to determine whether speed, drugs or alcohol were involved. A sample of Robinson’s blood was taken for testing, Vaughan said.
Robinson survived cancer of the parotid gland, the main saliva gland, when she was 11, and was a 2008 Cape Elizabeth High School graduate. She loved to dance, getting together with friends and was known for her blunt nature, her mother said.
“She was a free spirit who would tell you just like it was,” Donna Robinson said.
As she grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Donna Robinson said her daughter developed a love for traveling, especially when it meant riding on the back of her uncle Al Butler’s Harley Davidson.
Robinson’s co-workers at Supercuts on Broadway in South Portland said she was a skilled stylist and customer favorite and was very close to her mother and grandmother, Janice Harling.
“She put a smile on our faces every day she was here,” said co-worker Robin Littlefield.
Robinson is survived by her mother; her father, Richard Allen Robinson of Belfast; her grandmother, Janice Harling, of Cape Elizabeth; aunts and uncles, Tammy Butler and her husband, Alburn, of Portland, Danny Harling and his wife, Carrie Boudreau, of Raymond; and cousins, Matthew Butler of Los Angeles and Alice Boudreau of Raymond.
Robinson’s family suggested donations in her memory be made to: Barbara Bush Children’s Center, Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04102; or Animal Refuge League, P.O. Box 336, Westbrook, ME 04098.
