Volk understands challenges Maine faces

To the editor:

During the past few weeks news has been coming out of Augusta forecasting a larger than expected budget deficit. Due to the economic problems confronting Maine and our country, it is no surprise that Maine’s tax revenues are lagging behind state spending.

Although our legislators cannot be held entirely responsible for the state’s current budget deficit, our elected representatives need to resist the temptation to raise taxes on individuals and businesses.

Amy Volk is a working mom who understands the challenges confronting working families and businesses in Maine. This November, voters of Scarborough will have the opportunity to elect a state representative from House District 127 who will work to make Maine state government more efficient and responsive to voters.

I would encourage District 127 residents to give Amy their consideration when casting their votes in November. To learn more about Amy Volk visit her website at www.amyvolkforhouse.com.

Volk can ‘restore’ jobs, economy in state

 To the editor:

I moved back to Maine from California in 1994 because I wanted to raise my family in a state that promoted “the way life should be.”

Since then, I have witnessed increased unemployment due to industry leaving the state for friendlier, regulation-free  environments. Our taxes have risen as welfare has grown. I have seen our finest students leave the state after college graduation because of lack of opportunity.

Maine needs strong, responsible leadership. I strongly recommend Amy Volk to represent District 127 in our State House of Representatives. As a business owner, Amy has real world experience and the vision it will take to bring jobs back to Maine. She believes in fewer taxes and regulations for Maine businesses.  Amy’s ability to manage a family as well as a business while maintaining an active role as a volunteer in our community make her an excellent choice.
