Flaherty will plead not guilty next month
State Rep. Sean Flaherty will plead not guilty Oct. 27 to a charge of suspicion of operating under the influence, according to his attorney, Daniel Warren.
Flaherty, 25, flipped his car in Freeport on I-295 at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 8, after returning from a wedding in Sebago. He is a swim coach at Scarborough High School and is campaigning for re-election to his House District 127 seat.
Arresting officer Doug Cropper said results of Flaherty’s blood alcohol test have been processed, but that the information is not made public.
Residents help capture alleged burglar
Suspicious Portland residents helped police capture a man wanted throughout the area for an alleged burglary spree last December.
Albert Dadiego, 34, indicted in February by a Cumberland County grand jury on three Class B burglary charges and two Class C theft charges, remained in Cumberland County Jail in Portland, according to jail officials.
Portland Police Lt. Gary Rogers said Dadiego was arrested without incident about 1:30 p.m. Monday at his mother’s home in Portland. Police were responding to a call about a suspicious person and discovered Dadiego had been staying there recently.
He was arrested on outstanding warrants in Cumberland and York counties. Rogers said Dadiego allegedly broke into Family Dental Practices on Dec. 2, 2009.
The burglary was the first of three in December Dadiego is charged with committing.
South Portland Police Detective Sgt. Steven Webster said Dadiego was wanted for allegedly breaking into the Bass Shoe outlet on Gorham Road near Clark’s Pond at around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2009.
Webster said an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle emerging from the store parking lot and discovered the store had been burglarizd after investigating the scene. Bank deposit bags with cash and checks were stolen.
The next day, Dadiego allegedly broke into Pawsitively Pets on Route 1 in Scarborough, said Scarborough Police Detective Sgt. Rick Rouse. About $100 in cash was taken from the store, Rouse said.
Clerks at Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland said a court appearance for Dadiego has not been scheduled.
