Shirley L. Kean, 84, of Scarborough died Friday, July 9, 2010, at Maine Medical Center.

Born in Winchester, Mass., she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Carroll. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1944.

Mrs. Kean married Thomas Kean Jan. 6, 1946.

She loved her gardens and walking the beach. Mrs. Kean and her husband performed in many local commercials. She also worked as a sales clerk for J.C. Penny for more than 15 years.

Mrs. Kean is survived by her husband, Thomas Kean; children, Thomas V. Kean and wife Dorothy, James J. Kean and wife Laurie, Peter D. Kean and wife Diane, Carol Graham and husband Jay, Cynthia Miller and husband Warren, Christine Kean and Cathy A. Ricker; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren along with many extended family members and friends.

Arrangements were by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
