Knowledge of kings, queens and guillotines helped Scarborough High School students finish in eighth place in their division at the national Academic Decathlon competition April 21 through 24 in Omaha, Neb.
The team, which won its sixth straight state championship in February, was tested on aspects of history, music, art, economics and science as the topics pertained to the French Revolution and decades before and after it.
While placing eighth in Division 2, the team finished 27th overall and second among New England high schools.
Sophomore Susan Rundell was the top scorer for the team, which competed in speech, quiz and written portions of the competition.
