Letter: Home is whole again (Printed April 9, 2010)

To the editor:

A year ago, we found ourselves in an unexpected situation that required major renovation of our home and displaced us for six months.

Town and Country Credit Union offered us financial support we desperately needed. Elaine Landry remained in frequent contact with us. We had met with several contractors but having had our confidence shaken, we found ourselves reserved in placing our faith in anyone. The credit union recommended we contact Travis Blake of Maine Properties.

Travis met us at our home to find it gutted to the framework. He immediately placed us at ease with his suggestions, confidence in restoring our home and empathy to our situation. His team was outstanding.

They were professional, communicated with us daily and continually went above and beyond. We were never let down or disappointed by their workmanship and support.

We were completely overwhelmed facing the task of having to replace our kitchen. Travis recommended Mary Lou Johnson at Indisco who helped us sort through a number of the many decisions and come up with a plan for our new kitchen. She was creative, attentive to detail and we had 100 percent confidence in her. Our kitchen is beautiful.

When we had to vacate our home it was sudden and in the middle of January. We finally met with Laura Gironda at Homewood Suites. The facility was clean, welcoming and comfortable. They allowed us to keep our two boxer dogs with us and would take them for walks when we were at work. Staff members became our extended family.

It is with gratitude and praise that we take the opportunity to thank these businesses in Scarborough and the people who represent them. We thank them all for their support, professionalism and compassion in making our house a home again.
