Letter: Students should slow down (Printed April 2, 2010)

To the editor:

I was driving through the parking lot of Scarborough High School when classes let out March 18.

What a scary place that is. I was almost hit by a student that decided she didn’t have to stop for stop signs. When I looked at her as I drove by her passenger made some comment to me like it was my fault she had to stop.

This is not the first time that this has occurred. It happened another time at lunch. I have brought this to the attention of school board members and the superintendent’s office, but it appears it is not a matter of their concern. It will be when there is an accident involving a student, but why wait until then?

This is an issue that needs to be addressed and soon before something happens and people get hurt. I did call the principal’s office, but my call was not returned.
