Funny money
Police report a counterfeit $20 bill was used to make a purchase Jan. 25 from the Puffin Stop on Route 1.

No respect
A traffic stop Jan. 26 for speeding on Route 1 led to the arrest of two men. One, age 19, is charged with failure to give his correct name, obstruction, disorderly conduct and criminal threatening for his remarks to police.
The driver of the vehicle, 23, was charged with operating under the influence and violating bail conditions.

No trade-in
A van thought to be suspicious by a reserve police officer on Jan. 26 was probably delivering newspapers to the Land Rover dealership on Route 1.

Cold case
On Jan. 26, police issued a request for an arrest warrant for a 47-year-old-man who allegedly tried to sell equipment reported stolen from a golf and tennis club to the Golf and Ski Warehouse on Payne Road. The attempted sale occurred last June.

Is this irony?
Police are reviewing surveillance footage of a subject allegedly stealing a home surveillance system and stereo components Jan. 28 from Sam’s Club on Payne Road.
Tools of deception
Police are investigating whether someone bought items at Oak Hill Hardware store on Gorham Road Jan. 29 and fraudulently charged them to a corporate account.

Smokey and the Bandit
Police were unable to find the driver of a black car reported to be driving more than 70 mph on Route 1 through the Scarborough Marsh and running two red lights on Jan. 29.

Good deed
A lost credit card was returned to its owner after the card was turned over to police Jan. 29.

Easy rider
Reports of an erratic driver on the Maine Turnpike resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old man on Holmes Road near Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Jan. 30. Police reported he was driving with his windows down and smelled of marijuana. He was charged with operating under the influence and drug possession.

Afraid to ask
Police arrested a 22-year-old man on Jan. 31 and charged him with theft for allegedly stealing a stun gun, electronic dog collar and knife from Cabela’s. The suspect also was charged with failing to give a correct name and violating bail conditions.
