William Gibbons Rodimon
William Gibbons Rodimon, 89, died Jan.17, 2010, at Maine Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 26, 1920 in Northampton, Mass. He was a son of Walter S. Rodimon and Gladys Gibbons Rodimon. He graduated from the Northampton High School. He enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II and the invasion of the islands. He was a pharmacist first class.
On being honorably discharged from the Navy, he entered American International College in Springfield, Mass. He was recalled during the Korean War and when he returned to school he graduated with a degree in economics.
He married the former Patricia K. Welch on Aug. 9, 1949. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August 2009. They made their home in Westfield, Mass. They had one daughter, Melissa, who is retiring after 34 years in the Wareham, Mass., school system as assistant principal.
Mr. Rodimon retired from the Westfield Post Office. He and his wife moved to live year round at Higgins Beach in 1986, where they summered for many years. He and his wifeenjoyed many old and new friends at Higgins Beach.
In his first years, Mr. Rodimon caught many fish off the rocks. In later years, he was seen feeding the seagulls and delivering newspapers to his friends’ front steps. He rode his bicycle and walked the beach four times a day.
Mr. Rodimon was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 124 in Westfield, Mass., and the VFW. He was also a member of the Higgins Beach Association.
Mr. Rodimon is predeceased by his parents; his three brothers, Clark, Warner and Frederick, and a sister; Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter Melissa and husband, Lawrence Whelen, of Onset, Mass.; and two sisters, Martha Makula and Charlotte King and friend Jack Carpenter. He also leaves behind his nephew, Richard King, wife, Judy, and daughter, Sarah, and nieces, Christine Makula and Elizabeth and Roger Richardson and daughter, Elizabeth.
Private services will be held in Northampton, Mass., in the summer. Scott Bissonnette
Scott D. Bissonnette (Ott), 45, died Jan. 21, 2010 after a long illness. He was born April 2, 1964, the son of Pamela and Michael Ott, formerly of Cape Elizabeth and now of Scarborough. Mr. Bissonnette went to Cape Elizabeth schools and graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School.
He loved to go lobstering and he loved to be at sea on the larger fishing vessels. He said it was very peaceful out at sea. He also sold cars at different dealers.
Mr. Bissonnette is survived by son Scott Michael of Portland and daughter Joelene Paulette of Biddeford; parents Pamela and Michael Ott; sister Bonnie and nephew Miles of South Portland; uncles Bruce Pike and wife Mary Jean of Wells, Wayne Pike of Saco, John and Lili Ott of Groton, Ma., along with many cousins.
