The Marsh (July 10, 2009)
Hello once again everyone, and welcome back to the Marsh. Hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July. If you blinked, you might have missed the two days of sunshine we had last week compared to the sloppy conditions we’ve been accustomed to the last two weeks.
In softball, the Scarborough U-10 Little League All-Stars won their second game last week against Freeport 12-2 by Mercy Rule in the fifth inning. Abbie Murrell and Chloe Gorey both hit triples, while Lilly Volk dominated on the pitchers mound, striking out 15 batters! Their next game is scheduled for July 13 at Wainwright Field in South Portland against Yarmouth.
In case you don’t know, the Libby-Mitchell Post 76 team has a 5-2 record as of press time. Unfortunately, the team’s double-header against Westbrook was cancelled on Tuesday because of thundershowers. I was so thrilled too, as we were suffering a drought for about two days. The team is scheduled to play a double-header against Yarmouth on Saturday before playing Andrews on Tuesday.
Mark July 18 on your calendars, folks. Starting at 7 a.m. at Scarborough High School will be the Tranch Memorial Wrestling Tournament. During that particular tournament, Danger Dave returns! That’s right ladies and gentlemen, I will be participating in the tournament as a wrestler. I have been honing my skills at the Scarborough Summer Wrestling Camp and hopefully know enough for the tournament. I will chronicle my experience in the following week’s Scarborough Leader, so stay tuned!
Until next time, have a great weekend everyone!
