Letter: True community supporters made meet (June 12, 2009)
When asked for a charitable donation, they could have taken the easy way out. They could have written a check and have been done with it. Instead, David and Jessica Hopkinson, owners of Henry VIII Carvery in Scarborough, gave so much more.
Upon hearing of our need for sponsors for the SMAA Championship Outdoor Track Meet, David and Jessica not only offered a large donation of food, but spent the whole day at the meet cooking, providing spectators and athletes with the most delicious sporting event in recent history.
When Jane and Wayne St. Pierre of Kitchen and Cork in Scarborough learned of our need, they responded by donating a dessert of homemade cookies. And then Wagner Cavalcante from Dunkin’ Donuts stepped up and contributed some very needed and appreciated coffee.
Hosting the SMAA Championship Meet was a great fundraising opportunity for the Cross Country/Track Booster Club. The tremendous support we received from Henry VIII Carvery, Kitchen and Cork and Dunkin’ Donuts helped make our day very successful. We thank them for their support and urge all Scarborough residents to return the favor by supporting these local businesses!
