Nemitz named new Scarborough Leader and Mainely Media managing editor (April 17, 2009)

Andrea Nemitz has joined Mainely Media, LLC as managing editor for its six weekly newspapers, including The Scarborough Leader.

Nemitz has worked in Maine journalism since 1983. She was news editor at the Sun Journal Sunday newspaper in Lewiston and a senior editor at the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram from 1986 to 2008.

She is a native of Wisconsin and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

“I’m thrilled to get back to my community journalism roots and work with such a talented, energetic staff,” Nemitz said. “We have a wonderful opportunity to not only report the news, but share the stories of people who make a difference in York and Cumberland counties.”

“We are so happy to have Andrea on our staff here at Mainely Media, LLC. Her years of experience and enthusiastic approach to community journalism will be a big addition to our editorial staff,” said David Clark, general manager.

Nemitz and her husband, Bill, live in Bar Mills.
