Police looking for robbery suspect (March 6, 2009)

Scarborough Police are on the lookout for the suspect of an alleged armed robbery.

According to police, a male suspect standing about 5-feet 8-inches and weighing 180 pounds allegedly robbed the Homewood Suites Hotel, located on Southborough Drive at 7:40 p.m. last Saturday.

The suspect, described as being in his late 20’s with dark hair and “stubble” facial hair, reportedly displayed a black handgun to the clerk behind the service desk and demanded money, according to police. The man then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

According to police, the man was wearing blue jeans, a dark grey or blue zippered, hooded sweatshirt, with an indistinguishable white and red design on the front, with unknown footwear.

Sgt. Det. Rick Rouse said there were no injuries during the incident. He said the clerk and another employee – who was unaware of the incident – were the only people present at the time of the alleged incident.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Scarborough Police Department at 883-6361.
