Letter: Thank you for all the generosity (Jan. 9, 2009)
I just wanted to thank Nate Jones for writing such a wonderful article about my journey towards independence in the Dec. 12 edition of the Scarborough Leader. I have had many emails from people in the community saying they also thought the article was great and wished me well with my fledgling online brokering business. I would just like to let people out there know that I volunteered to share my experience as a Project G.R.A.C.E. assistance recipient so that others in need in our community may be given hope for the future by the generous people who are part of Project G.R.A.C.E. Their policy is that all personal information about recipients is kept completely confidential and it was my choice to share my story.
I would also like to thank Sam Kelley of MBI Trailers for organizing a board of directors or “cheerleaders” for me and sharing his vast business experience with me. Thank you also to Evelyn, Bert, Jack and Susan for all of their volunteered time and expertise in business to help me take HG Merchandise Brokers to a higher level. Also a big thank you to Alison my trusty side kick and my six wonderful children who do much of the physical work for my business that I am unable to do myself. I am eternally grateful to all who have helped me on my way to become a woman of independent means in order to support my family. Many generous people in Scarborough have donated items for me to sell online to give my business a kick start, and I thank you all.
