Letter: Scarborough Villiage proposal would benefit town (Oct. 3, 2008)
Editor:
I was present at the town council meeting on Sept. 24 and I was one of many who spoke in favor of the Scarborough Village plan. It’s a good idea for Scarborough, it will lower our property taxes and provide money for needed projects like a community center, and help the harness racing industry. Voters should take a good look at it. I’ve lived in this town a long time, and I’ve seen few proposals that will actually lower taxes. How does Alberta Follansbee figure this will be at the expense of our town? She must have been at some other meeting where she imagined slick lawyers ham-stringing the town council, because it didn’t happen at the town council meeting I attended. The only lawyer that spoke was the town’s own lawyer.
