Letter: Letter writer was wrong on facts (Oct. 3, 2008)
Editor:
Yes, let’s do get the record straight. On Sept. 26, Alberta Follansbee claimed in her letter that Penn National appeared at a town council meeting on Sept. 24 and hamstrung the council with “slick wording” crafted by its lawyers.
This is simply and deliberately false. No representative from Penn National was present at the meeting. As the Leader reported in the same issue, the town’s own lawyers wrote the referendum question per the town charter.
Why would the Leader print a letter to editor with completely fabricated information?
I was at the meeting, and I thank the council for giving me and others the opportunity to speak on the Scarborough Village proposal. The question will go to voters on Nov. 4 and I am voting in favor because I think it would be good for Scarborough, good for a Maine industry, and, with the money the town will get out of it, good for me as a tax payer.
And that’s the straight scoop.

When you met with Susan Higgins about writing your letter as part of a smear campaign, were you told about the great things Alberta has done in Scarborough?
What do you do?
