Letter: Flyer was wrong about Rep. Peggy Pendleton (Oct. 3, 2008)

Editor:

I am a Republican voter in the town of Scarborough.

I am writing about a recent flyer I received in my mailbox. Amongst so many political flyers and junk mail, it not only was oversized but it was “super sized” wrong in its malicious attack of our hard working Scarborough Representative, Peggy Pendleton.

Peggy Pendleton has always kept her promises and voted with her constituents in mind. Peggy Pendleton is an honest lady who helps her constituents by continuing to listen to their needs.

The Legislative record on LD 1925, roll call No. 138, for instance, shows that Peggy voted against raising general taxes, in response to constituent concerns. She voted against this tax bill a total of three times, despite great pressure from members of her own party.

Peggy has always been for the people of Scarborough first and foremost.  From the Next Gen College Program, which she helped pass, to Jake’s Law,  which she sponsored to help keep children safe, Peggy’s voting record shows that she cares about people, period!

If you have any doubts, just ask so many families she has helped over the years.

In this time of economic turmoil we need someone with experience in the Maine Legislature who is not afraid to cross party lines and stand up for the people.

How do I know this?  As a Republican, I became campaign manager for Peggy Pendleton, a Democrat. Peggy has shown me that it’s okay to work together and to cross party lines for the good of the people of Scarborough.

I have no doubt Peggy Pendleton will have the continued support of all voters of Scarborough on Nov. 4.
