Letter: Residents, keep an eye on park, budget (Sept. 12, 2008)
Editor:
Last year the majority of Scarborough residents voted against having a recreation area that was to include a ball field and tennis courts.
I noticed with interest that the town is putting water and a road in the area this summer. When I asked what they planned to do, a person in the town office and also someone in the recreation department told me that they were simply leveling the area and that it would be left in a natural state. They did mention that there had been some interest in having a garden. I also called a council member and they said there would be bathrooms added for people to use.
Let’s see what will be added in the following years. Will it slowly begin to look like the recreation department had originally planned? If you voted against a ball field and tennis court kind of area, plan to attend the budget meetings that will begin early next year. Let’s see if monies are appropriated for more to be included in the park.
