Letter: Thanks for a great concert series (Aug. 15, 2008)
Editor:
Last Thursday night the final concert in the ninth annual Summer Concert Series sponsored by the Scarborough Community Chamber and Scarborough Community Services was held at the Winslow Homer Center for the Arts inside Scarborough High School. Of the six concerts this summer, three were held inside due to inclement weather. Through out the nine years we have been organizing these shows, five have been held inside, unfortunately three were this year. Regardless, this year’s shows were an over welling success; for which I like to thank our sponsors, Biddeford Savings, Scarborough Downs, Genesis Health Care, Current Publishing, Scarborough Subway, Saco & Biddeford Savings and Loan, Passionate Stitches, Henry VIII Carvery, Orthopedic Physical Therapy Associates, Acapello Salons, Frederick Bros. Oil, Sudzie Carwash, Michelle Raber State Farm Insurance, Dr. Daniel Ravin DMD, Maine Coast Marketing, Maine Indoor Karting, Casco Bay Aerials and the Amtrack Downeaster. Without the financial support of these businesses, the concerts would not have taken place. Special thanks go to Art Dillon of the Chamber, who has earned the nickname Mr. Concert for the tremendous amount of time and effort he has put into these shows; to Mr. Steve Quick of Community Services, who always makes sure the facility is in top notch condition; to the Scarborough Volunteers in Police for handling the traffic and to all other chamber members who volunteered their time. Finally, thank you to all who have attended any of the concerts. It seems everyone enjoyed them, it’s a great community event and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
Bob Nadeau,
President of the Scarborough Community
Chamber
