Letter: Girls sports needs more attention in the Leader (Aug. 1, 2008)
Editor:
Season after season I patiently accept that you not only print the Boy’s Little League scores but you actual do mini-articles telling us all who pitched, how the runs were scored, etc. I have to admit that patience ended yesterday when I received my Leader and there was not even the slightest mention that the U12 Scarborough Little League Girls won the State LL Softball Championships is dominating fashion and are now headed to Albany to play in the Regionals. If they were to win in Albany they would go to Oregon for the Nationals. I am not a betting man but I would be willing to bet big money that if that team were made up of boys it would have been on the front page of your newspaper when they left for States as well as when they won the tournament. When will the girls get the respect and news coverage they deserve?
