Letter: Friends thank book sale supporters (June 27, 2008)

Editor:
On behalf of the Friends of the Scarborough Library, we would like to send a sincere thank you to everyone who supported the 2008 annual book sale. Attendance was high, and the sale netted more than $12,440, which will be used to support the library. We have supported library programs, speakers, and summer programs for children. We also give money each year to add books to the library’s shelves.
The Friends greatly appreciate the help we received from local businesses. A tent set up by One Stop Party Shoppe housed some of the approximately 25,000 quality books that were donated this year. We also want to thank the Scarborough Lions Club for the use of their tables again this year. Hannaford made donations as well. We cannot thank the Friends membership and volunteers enough for the time they spent sorting books and helping during the sale.
We are once again indebted to the Scarborough Public Works Department, whose employees are extremely helpful each year in assisting with our storage and transportation needs. Without their ongoing support the book sale would not be possible!
We wish you many lazy, sunny summer days of reading, whether your books are from our Book Sale or nice cool visits to the Scarborough Public Library! Thank you again for all your support.
