Police Notes for Feb. 22, 2008

   
HIT THE DEFROST
Police arrested a man for driving with a suspended license on Bridges Drive. Officials said they had originally pulled over the driver because his third brake light was covered with snow.

BOXING MATCH
Police received a complaint from a timeshare owner who found his advertisement boxes were being replaced with similar boxes from a marketing company. None of the Route One businesses where the man left his boxes noticed anything suspicious.

HORSING AROUND
Officers responded to a loose horse on Holmes Road. A cart the horse was pulling struck a parked pickup truck and dented the bumper.

CAUGHT IN A FOG
Police arrested the driver of a vehicle on Burnham Road for bail violation and on the warrant of another agency after pulling him over due to excessive emissions concealing the vehicle’s license plate.

BROTHERLY LOVE
Police issued a summons for assault when a fight between two 17-year old siblings resulted in a boy trying to drag his sister out of the house by her arm and neck. The boy was returned to his aunt’s house since the mother of the pair is currently in jail.

HOT HEADED EX
Police filed a report when an oil company informed them one of their overdue accounts had been falsified. The account owner, who lived in Arizona, said his daughter’s boyfriend had opened the account after stealing a blank check. The boyfriend received $742.17 in oil under the false name.

SCARBOROUGH SEA DOGS
Police responded to a call about a live seal on the beach. A University of New England student reportedly retrieved the seal, which may have been ill, before officers arrived.

SCHOOL BUS SCRAPED
An accident report was filed with police noting small car striking a Gorham school bus in the Scarborough High School parking lot. The car was backing into a space adjacent the bus.

ARREST STOP
Police issued summonses for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana to the driver and passenger of a vehicle on the side of Beech Ridge Road. While the driver of the vehicle did not test positive for alcohol, the passenger had clearly been drinking. The two subjects said they pulled over to go to the bathroom.

INTO THIN AIR
Police filed a report of the theft of a portable air compressor valued at $200 from the upcoming Cabella’s retail store construction site.
