Letter: Post 76 offers thanks (Printed Jan. 25, 2008)
Editor:
The Libby-Mitchell American Legion Post 76 baseball team would like to thank the community for its support of our annual sales of Scarborough historical Christmas ornaments. We sold $600 worth of bulbs featuring the building that once housed the Curtiss Wright aviation school that Charles Lindbergh reportedly visited during his stop here in l927. The building now is the site of the Libby-Mitchell Post in the Scarborough Industrial Park.
With that money, we were able to make the annual charitable contributions that the baseball team makes to:
• The Bruce Roberts kids toy fund in Portland
• Good Sheperd Food Bank
• Salvation Army
We also paid some leftover costs from the 2007 season.
• Thank you very much to the following people or businesses who helped us sell our ornaments:
• Brown Fox Printing, Russ Burleigh owner
• Jones and Warren, Bernie Zimmerman, ombudsman
• Joyce Joy, Scarborough Seniors organization
• Libby-Mitchell Post 76 members
• Rick Murphy of Linsco Private Ledger
• Pat’s Pizza of Scarborough, Dave Anderson, owner
• Saco Biddeford Savings Institution
• Scarborough Dental Associates, Brenda Buttarazzi, CFO
• Scarborough Police Department, Det. Rick Rouse
• Scarborough Town Hall, Tody Justice, clerk
• Shirley’s Hallmark Store at Shop ‘n Save Plaza
• Robin Thurston of State Farm Insurance
• TD Bank North and Susan Moulton, manager
• Eddie Woodin of Woodin and Company
Again, thanks to all involved. Happy New Year
