Letter: Thanks for support at Halloween Stroll (Printed Nov. 9, 2007)

Once Upon A Time Child Care/Preschool would like to thank the following members of our community for their help and support for our First Annual Halloween Stroll for Scarborough children: Tricia Castaldo, Maine Mortgage Group, Kayla Tweedie, Haley Searles, Jordan Castaldo, Ellie Fowler, Mainely Media, Kathy Purdy at Shaws in Scarborough for the gift card, Scarborough Community Services for the use of Scarborough Middle School and Hannaford, Scarborough for allowing us to put a candy donation box at the Service Desk and for candy donations.
Approximately 100 children and parents came through the doors at the middle school to stroll through the cafeteria to receive candy at the various stations, to play games, to get their faces painted, to play Halloween Bingo, to hear a scary, haunted record and to guess how much candy was in the large can. Lisa Brown of Biddeford was the winner of the large can filled with Halloween goodies. Lisa’s guess was 265 and the can contained 279 pieces of candy. Lisa’s was the closest guess without going over. Congratulations to Lisa! When she came back to pick up her candy, she told us that it was going to be shared with other family members that had also attended the stroll.
Thank you also to all of the parents and children who attended and brought a bag of candy for a donation.
