Editorial - by Molly Lovell

Ruth Libby of Ruth’s Reusable Resources is no stranger to the media. Her organization is no doubt a great back to school story for local newspapers come fall. Lately, however, she’s in the limelight because she’s being forced to leave her current location at the former Bessey School on Rte. One.
Ruth’s deadline is the end of June and to say she’s busy trying to raise funds is definitely an understatement.
I know that’s not news to anyone. But I had the chance to take a tour of 3R’s this past Monday afternoon. Coast 93.1 was hosting a radio-thon on the front lawn. One of the DJs asked if had ever taken a tour. “No, but I’ve heard about all that she does,” I said.
Simply hearing about 3R’s definitely doesn’t do it justice.  If I were a teacher and walked inside for the first time I think I would begin drooling at all the colored markers, endless rolls of tape and mile-high piles of paper.
Volunteers aren’t bothering to restock shelves at this point in preparation for a move, but I never would have never guessed that. Items are still stacked ceiling high. Tractor trailers packed with supplies still sit at the back of the property.
I appreciated that Ruth took the time out to show me around – I’m sure she’s done it a million times. She’s taken countless members of the media through her place and said it’s difficult for just one story, or one blurb on the television news to show exactly what she does. It’s true. Instead of going on about this any further I just encourage you to drop in on 3R’s and see for yourself.
