This Week's Letters
We are fortunate to have Councilor Messer
Editor:
I am happy and reassured that there is a council member (Jeff Messer) that believes in fiscal responsibility and that acts in what I believe to be the best interests of the taxpayers of Scarborough. I read his recent letter as it appeared in the Leader and I for one didn't feel he was being arrogant or condescending.
Having lived, owned homes, and paid taxes in several other states around the country prior to moving to Scarborough in 1998 (OK...I'm from "away"), I've never quite understood why the taxes in Maine are so out of line with so many other states. I think we're fortunate to have him on the council knowing that he'll continue to inject some common sense into Scarborough's fiscal matters.
