A new direction for ‘Follow the Leader’
A new direction for ‘Follow the Leader’
The Leader’s blog is heading in a new direction.
“Follow the Leader,” an online blog for readers of the Scarborough Leader, has been up and running for a few months and the staff here, in an effort to improve the site, we have come up with a new use for it.
The blog now makes it possible for readers to look back a week or more into past issues and read items from those issues. The blog will now be an informal “archive” for the Leader. Every Friday, that week’s stories, Weekly Interview, editorial, column and letters will be posted on the blog. Those who log on will be able to comment on the items, plus will be able to look back through a number of issues if they wish.
Also each week, a “Question of the Week” will be asked in the Leader. The same question will be posted on the blog and will be ready for people to respond to.
It is important for readers to feel like they can comment on items they see in the Leader and make the paper their own. After all, we strive to be the community’s paper. In the electronic age we now live in, the Leader’s readers can form their own “online community.”
One of our goals for “Follow the Leader” is to make it more interactive. We also want to make it interesting and relevant to people. We hope that the new changes will help us meet those goals.
